Herold Wines on Cradock Farm

Herold Wines on Cradock Farm near George on the Garden RouteHEROLD WINES

Herold Wines on Cradock Farm is situated at the foot of Cradock Peak, just beyond the top of the very scenic National Monument, the Montagu Pass. It is the first vineyard in the Garden Route to grow, produce and bottle cerified wine on the property and can claim the status"Wine of Origin Outeniqua" on wines produced.

The trip up the Montagu Pass to the farm takes about an hour of slow traveling. Herold Wines is accessed on a road through a working hops farm.

The viticulturist and winemaker personally hosts visitors in a quaint farm cottage, chatting about the farm and winemaking over a cup of tea before taking them to the cellar. The wine making process is explained and wine is available for tasting and purchase.

The cellar visit takes an hour but most visitors spend longer once involved. Visitors are welcome to bring their own picnics or pre-order packs or braai fires. We cater for individuals or groups and children and pets are welcome.

There are mapped walks and river pools for swimming. Visitors are encourage to walk through the vineyards and meet the staff attending to their individually managed vineyard blocks.

It is our intention and pleasure to sjare the joys of wine and nature with our guests in a beautiful and unpretentious setting and to afford them the opportunity to meet and interact with the people who make up the Herold Wines family.
